Cheyenne, Wyoming

Cheyenne was the last place we stayed in Wyoming before heading due east across the plains states. We saw the state capitol and I went to a meeting while there.

Cheyenne, WY / Sunday, Aug 16, 2009 -- We pulled into Cheyenne at about 6 PM after a six hour, 270 mile drive from Riverton (AKA, the middle of nowhere) where we overnighted last night. It was a nice trip through the wide open spaces of Wyoming. Points along the way were Sand Draw (don't ask), Sweetwater Junction, Jeffrey City, Muddy Gap, Rawlins, Elk Mountain, Laramie (where we took the business loop off of I-80. Kind of creepy being there, knowing of what happened to Matthew Sheppard there), and finally Cheyenne, the capitol of Wyoming. This will be our home for the week.

The RV park is decent. The main drawback is that we don't have satellite TV access due to trees. We do have cable, so we should survive. Just no Science Channel for my late night work/TV habit.

Joe and I took a short drive to downtown Cheyenne this afternoon to see the capitol building of Wyoming. I've posted some of the photos in the photo gallery. Click the thumbnails to see the full size image.

Tomorrow, we leave for Greenwood, Nebraska, a small town in between Lincoln and Omaha.

Notes:
This was a decent park. They have a vendor serving barbeque every day. Yum!
