Click for Photo Gallery Eureka, CA - July 5, 2009 - After a very scenic drive on the Avenue of the Giants (Wikipedia) through the Giant Redwoods in northern California, we got to our destination for the week of Eureka, CA. After checking in (which was a time-consuming event), we got the motorhome set up with hookups, levelers etc and then went grocery shopping. So nice to have the Jeep now as that task (grocery shopping) used to be an ordeal in itself. I just got done getting the DirecTV satellite dish set up which took more than an hour, the longest time ever (the fastest was less than a minute). Anyway, we're settled now for a week in Eureka!

So far the weather has been terrific. It's in the mid 60's. The sun has been out with a slight ocean breeze. We're right next to a tidal slough where the water literally fills up and completely drains several times a day. It's pretty neat to watch.
