Greenwood, Nebraska / Aug 23, 2009 -- After a full day of driving Interstate 80 through nearly the entire state of Nebraska, we arrived in the tiny town of Greenwood last night around 8:30 PM. We are located about halfway between Lincoln (the capitol of Nebraska) and Omaha. We are now down to about 1150 feet from over 6,000 in Cheyenne. The drop in elevation was so gradual over the 400 mile length of the trip that it was virtually undetectable.
The weather is excellent and the view from my desk is pretty cool. I'm looking out over a gentle green valley where there is a big field of peas in the foreground, right next to the park, followed by some trees. There is a train track in the far distance where I have seen some long freight trains go by as well as one passenger train last night.
The RV park is good. It's right next to the Interstate, but the noise isn't bad. There is no cable, but we have a clear view of the satellite so we are covered in the TV department. Sprint coverage (our method of Internet access through our Airbox CM3) shows 'BEST' according to Sprints' coverage map, but it has so far been kind of lousy, although right now, at this moment, it's working pretty good. I have found that sometimes it gets better after staying situated for awhile. If all else fails, this park has Nomad WiFi which is working pretty good on my laptop.
