Lower Manhattan |
New York, NY / October 25, 2009 -- This was our second time here together. Last time we stayed almost two months. This time it was only one. My office is in Times Square and while here, I commute in from our temporary home in Jersey City.
We were here for Joe's birthday which is also Halloween night. This time we celebrated by going out to dinner at Sardi's Restaurant on 43rd street across the street from the Majestic Theatre which was no accident because the next event for the evening was to see The Phantom of the Opera for the umteenth time which is a tradition for Joe's birthday. This was the second time we saw it on Broadway and it was just as good this time as all the others. We had excellent seats in the 7th row, center orchestra.
We followed this up by taking the subway downtown to Greenwich village to see the Halloween activities there. Surprisingly, much had died down by the time we got there. So we spent an hour or so there and then headed home to relax after a wonderful evening.
The next day we took the ferry over to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. It was a very nice afternoon with breathtaking views of lower Manhattan on the ride back.
