December, 2010 / Oceano, CA - Our six month stay at our home base in Oceano is coming to an end. On the evening of Saturday, December 18, we headed out of our spot at Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort prematurely because of potential flooding on the road leading to the park. It had rained all day long, non-stop and was predicted to continue all night. The county had already prepared for potential flooding by lining up pallets of sandbags, a tractor and 'Flooded' signs near the bridge over the creek. Although the park is on high ground, the road leading to it is low and surrounded by cabbage fields. There is a history of flooding there and because it would really mess with our plans to get stranded, we decided to get out of town early. So we drove a couple hours south to Vista Point, just south of Gaviota. This is like a rest area with no facilities which is fine for the motorhome. On Sunday, we drove the rest of the way to our reserved spot at Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach, CA

The final results of our to do list during our 6 month stay:

  • New microwave
  • New windshield - DONE!
  • New front seats
  • New couch - HALFWAY DONE
  • Carpeting - DONE!
  • Valances
  • Drapes
  • Flooring - DONE!
  • Tires (2)
  • Transmission flush - DONE!

We are road ready, although the need for tires is going to be nagging at us. This is something we'll do either by necessity (hopefully not) or when we can afford them.
