North Beach Burlington, Vermont |
Monday, September 7-19, 2009 / Burlington, Vermont -- We made it! Over 1,000 miles in 3.5 days from Chicago to Burlington. Today's drive through the Adirondacks was spectacular. Some of the most beautiful scenery around. It culminated with a 30 minute ferry ride across Lake Champlain from Essex, New York to Charlotte, Vermont with only 15 miles left from there to our campground. We are at the North Beach Campground, a city operated facility only minutes from downtown Burlington, right on the lake. There is a sandy beach at one end of the park. There is also a bicycle trail which runs along the waterfront from here to downtown. Should be a nice stay.
We have decided to stay here for a second week due to budget constraints (our 1,000 mile drive was quite a drain on the pocket book) and the fact that the trees have not even begun to change to fall colors yet.
